Tampa Area Unified Auditions July 18, 2009

Gorilla Theatre, Stageworks, Hat Trick Theatre Productions, Eckerd Theater Company, All Out Rep, Gypsy Productions, Inc. and Arts on 9th announce Tampa area auditions on Saturday July 18 2009, at the Hillsborough Community College Performing Arts Building at Palm Ave and 14th St in Ybor City.

Produced in cooperation between the Tampa area theatre community and the Hillsborough Community College School of Visual and Performing Arts.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACTORS:
Please read the instructions on this page carefully, and then call 813-354-0550 to make an audition appointment. Be sure to leave a working phone number so that we can call you back.

Please prepare two contrasting monologues of no more than one minute each. One of your monologues should be contemporary and one classical. Choose monologues that show us who you are and what you can do well.
Please check in at least 20 minutes before your audition time so that you have time to complete paperwork and prepare for your audition. Pleasant waiting and warm-up areas will be provided.

Non-Equity actors, please bring eight (8) headshots and resumes with you to the audition.

Equity actors, please bring two (2) headshots and resumes with you to the audition.

Please bring your diary and be prepared to list known scheduling conflicts.
If you would like to be considered for singing roles, please indicate this, together with your vocal range, on the audition form.

For consideration as a part of All Out Rep’s artist collective, please be prepared to include the following information on your audition form: writing (plays, spoken word, poetry), music composition, instruments played, dance, martial arts, staged combat, stage design, visual art, film editing.

CALLBACKS
Several of the auditioning directors will be holding callbacks immediately following the general auditions. Please be prepared to be available if called, and ensure that your working cell phone number is on your resume. A list of actors to be called back will be posted, together with room numbers, near the registration desk at 10:40, 12:00, 2:30 and 3:40. Callbacks will include the following:

The Woman in Black — 4:00 pm — HCC
The Drunken City — 4:00 pm — HCC
The Lark — 5:00 pm — HCC


DIRECTIONS TO THE AUDITION LOCATION:

Auditions will be held in the Mainstage Theatre in the Performing Arts Building of the HCC Ybor City campus. The Performing Arts Building is on the corner of Palm Ave and 14th Street and is the tallest building on campus.

Note that 14th Street is also known as Avenida Republica De Cuba and street signs in Ybor reflect both names. Both Google and MapQuest also recognize Avenida Republica De Cuba.

There is ample free parking in the HCC lots immediately adjacent to the Performing Arts Building (corner of 15th and Palm and corner of 15th and 11th) and on the street (there are no meters).

When you arrive at the Performing Arts Building follow the posted signs to the audition check-in desk.

The Lark ( L'Alouette)(Mar-Apr 2010), Jean Anouilh's classic account of Joan of Arc. — 8 men, 1 middle-aged woman. The role of Joan is precast. (note: the Christopher Fry translation will be used). Director: Nancy Cole

To Kill a Mockingbird: (The classic/movie=like version) all ages 9-70; 3 African Americans, 2 adults, 1 female 11-13. Atticus, Mayella, Mr. Ewell & Tom Robinson are pre-cast. Anna Brennen directs.

Eurydice: 18-75: (Greek myth updated) 3 women, 3 men, Multi-Racial/Cultural. Can move, carry tune. Eurydice and Orpheus are pre-cast. Anna Brennen directs.

Bad Dates: (New single parent comedy) ONE female, 35-50: Rosemary Orlando directs.

Perfect Ganesh (two mothers transform on their trip to India): 1 55-65 female. The other roles are cast. Director: TBA Also casting for two school tours.

ALL OUT REP

All Out Rep is casting for 2 productions. We are looking for alternate cast member for The Agreeable Husband and for the artist collective that will create and perform our newest piece based on addiction, with the current working title, Addiction.

The Agreeable Husband
Compensation — Paid per performance. The new actors will attend minimal pick up rehearsals and it pays per performance for intermittent touring productions throughout Florida and the United States. It will perform in rep with future productions so there is no definite end date.

Addiction
All Out Rep's second show that will run in Tampa and/or tour in rep with The Agreeable Husband. The working title, until it is actually created, is "Addiction" and it deals with the spiritual journey into and out of addiction of any kind. The creation process would be the late summer, fall and winter of 09-10, with the goal of a late spring premiere in 2010. Compensation — Modest stipend for creation process plus per performance compensation.

Gypsy Productions Inc. will be looking for non-equity actors for its 2010 season of 6 shows plus 2 specialty shows during June and a Holiday show. Show and dates are yet to be determined but the 2010 season will begin in January of 2010 at The Crown Theatre, Club Nautico, 4900 66th Street N.,St. Petersburg, FL 33709. The Mission of Gypsy Productions Inc. is: To enrich and educate the general public through the art of theatre. To present new and provocative pieces of theatre that expose the community to the concepts of equality, acceptance and pure entertainment without discrimination.
